Deer Season

This is a picture of me and Argos and Matthew, sitting by the heat vent to stay warm.

We had to take a break from pheasant hunting because Mommy and Daddy said us dogs would scare all the deer away as it got closer to deer season. We stopped hunting the week before the Deer Opener, then we didn't hunt all during deer season, and when the season ended Mommy and Daddy had to process the deer, so we missed a few more days until they were finished with that. All of us dogs had to stay in the house and it was very boring! Me and Abby were very sad when we watched the grown-ups leave the house every morning with their guns because we wanted to go hunting, too. Tsavo didn't care one way or the other, and Argos was sad because he is gun-shy and doesn't like hearing the guns go off. Mommy and Daddy had to leave the stereo on for him when they left the house to try and cover up the noise. Sometimes Mommy would put a movie in the vcr for us. My favorite movie is "Where The Red Fern Grows". I could watch it every day, but I'd still rather be out hunting.

New Bridge

Me and Matthew and Mommy went down to the creek to check on our bridge yesterday and you won't believe what we found- NOTHING!!! The entire bridge was gone. We couldn't find the aspen tree at all, and all we found of the other tree was one end of it. Those dang beavers! We need that bridge for hunting, and deer opener is next weekend. Luckily, Daddy's friend Bill was here again this weekend, so he and Daddy went and cut two new logs and built another bridge right where the first one used to be. This time, they cut oak trees instead of aspen- that'll show those beavers!

The only thing was, when I went to test the bridge for Daddy we discovered that the logs were a little bit too far apart. Good thing I have good balance!Daddy took his chain saw and sawed a little off the side and then he and Bill pushed the logs a little closer together and then it was much better

October Snow

Yesterday was Halloween and we had a snowstorm and then Matthew taught me how to make snowballs and then we played catch with them.

We had so much fun and I wish it would snow everyday!

All Tucked In

I was cold the other day so Mommy tucked me in next to the heat vent in my favorite blanket so I could take a nap.

Daddy's First Bird of the Season

On Sunday me and Mommy and Daddy and Abby and Matthew all went pheasant hunting and Daddy got his first bird of the season!!! I flushed it for him right down in the swamp near the road. That darn bird flew right over the creek and landed in the middle of the cattails. Mommy had walked up on the road to cross the bridge and we were supposed to meet her on the other side, but me and Abby decided to go with her and left Daddy and Matthew to find the bird.

Matthew fell in the creek and got soaking wet and his boots filled right up with water. Mommy sent him back to the house to dry off, and she took me and Abby back down to help Daddy. Before I even got there Abby went out and found that bird for Daddy.
Daddy fell down, too, and got his boots full of water. I'm glad us dogs can go barefoot into the creek and not have to worry about dumb old boots. After Daddy cleaned the bird Mommy made a delicious Pheasant Soup For Dogs with all of the parts she is not using for the Grown-up's Pheasant Soup and all of us dogs got to eat it for supper, including Argos and Tsavo even though they did not help us hunt. I can't wait until we get some more pheasants!!!

Beaver Damage!!!!

After all our hard work on the bridge, we went back a few days later and discovered that beavers had been chewing on the aspen log! They had eaten most of the bark off it and were working on chewing one end of it completely off!!!!! Rotten beavers!!!!
